So what happened this year?

Things have been so hectic it is hard to remember. The ATC Ambassador program was inaugurated. I tried to match new members up with
existing members so that they could welcome them and assimilate them into the Club. By all reports I believe this was a success. It seems like I see most everyone on a regular basis.

We had a QuickStart Tennis workshop and had three - spring, summer and fall - sessions of QST for 5 to 10 year olds. If you haven’t seen the pictures on our website you should check them out. In July we had summer camp for juniors as well as adults. These were successful and enjoyed by the participants.

Leagues were created – TMWPITM and Bernice’s Ladies League play in the morning. Singles happened every Monday night. Doubles happened every Wednesday night. Friday was Junior night along with Pizza Night. Community Tennis was expanded to four events per week. Things have been happening at the old ATC.

The men’s singles ladder had 22 participants and 35 scores reported. The ladies’ singles ladder had 8 participants and 11 scores reported. The current leaders are Tony Mustari and Christine Finn. While I wish more members participated these numbers are a significant increase over the previous year and shows that the ladders are improving and growing. Thank you to those who participated.

In July and August we had the member/guest doubles and singles events on Sunday afternoons. Our winners were – Jonathan Carp and Tom McPheeters – men’s doubles; Sue Paul and Don Paul – mixed doubles; Betsy Mercogliano and Ava Charne – ladies’ doubles; Nancy Kutner – ladies’ singles

The Albany Tennis Club has been open this season 111 days out of a possible 122 days. Our busiest day was July 13th when we had 67 players sign in and play tennis. Our busiest week was Monday, August 3rd through Sunday, August 9th when we had 303 players sign in and play tennis. We have had 3,570 players sign in and play tennis this season. Good work.

I very much enjoyed The International Korean – Albany Tennis Club Acts of Kindness, Sportsmanship and Goodwill Awards. The nominations were a pleasure to read. It is nice to see the friendships that grow at the Albany Tennis Club.

Quote of the Year - Dirty lines tell no lies. – A.C.

Community Tennis Lollapalooza - We had 24 players today for the last big event of the year – the Community Tennis Lollapalooza. Everyone braved the cold and winds and had a great time. Thanks for participating. Maybe we should do it once a month next year?

Final Statistics - Out of the 164 possible days, the Albany Tennis Club was open 151 days, 92%. We had 4,500+ people sign in and play tennis this summer.

Next Year - Does anyone have any comments for me regarding what the Club did very well this year? More importantly, I would like to know what the Club did not do well and we can improve upon.

I hope you have enjoyed your summer at the Albany Tennis Club. I very much would like to see you all back as members next year. Thanks for the great summer.
