Hello and welcome to the Albany Tennis Club Manager’s webpage.

As I write this the Club has officially opened but the courts are closed due to a deluge. I guess into every tennis player’s life a little rain must fall.

If you have not received my Manager’s Sunday Night E-mail then your e-mail address needs to be added to the Albany Tennis Club e-mail group. Send me an e-mail at emashma1@nycap.rr.com and I will add it.

I am very encouraged by the first weekend. We planned a group lesson for Sunday as well as Community Tennis. I expected sparse attendance especially because of the cloudy weather. But “build it and they will come” and you did come out. Thanks for your participation.

May and June is our key membership enrollment period. Our best source of publicity is you. As the indoor contracts wind down if you could just share a brochure (available from me at the club) with your friends or show someone our website www.albanytennisclub.com it would help spread the word of our wonderful red clay courts.

One item I would like to stress is that for us to make proper plans for our activities we need prior sign ups. Just send me an e-mail or call me at 438-4318 and let me know that you want to be in the group lesson or Community Tennis. To confirm that you are registered for an activity go to the calendar page and click on the activity. You should see your name listed. Thanks for your cooperation and pre-registration.

The cost of the group lesson is $10. I think that is a very reasonable price.

I have started to build our singles ladders. I think a sign of a good healthy club is a strong singles ladder. So far we have two ladies at the 25 level, three men at the 3.0 level and four men at the 3.5/4.0 level. We have already two matches scheduled for this week. So let me know that you are interested in singles matches and your level.

On Sunday we had doubles matches set up through my e-mail group. This is a little trickier than the singles ladder. I have been setting up doubles matches for more than ten years with an e-mail group called Mashmann Tennis Club. The matches are set up in other places in addition to the ATC. I am trying to blend the two groups. Let me know if you would like to be added to this e-mail group.

The junior lessons in the afternoon are filling up. If you can help spread the word I would appreciate it.

I am looking forward to a great summer tennis season filled with fun and many new friends.

Enjoy your tennis.
Ed
